If you are reading this book, Chances are you already have a fair idea about affiliate marketing and looking to take your business in the fast lane. However, if you are still not sure about what affiliate marketing is – here’s a quick summary.

Affiliate marketing is nothing but promoting the products/services of other people to earn a commission from every sale that is made through your link. It involves building a website/blog (or social media page) about a niche that matches the products/services you are aspiring to promote.

Let’s consider an example to understand the power and benefits of affiliate marketing for everyone involved. You live in a town that is buzzing tourist hub. Every year lots of tourists make their way into the town to witness its famed tourist attractions. You own commercial premises in the heart of the town and decide to convert it into an information hub considering the huge demand and potential.

Soon businesses all across the town notice that a whole of tourists make their way to your information hub when they need guidance related to food, shopping, transport, attractions, museums and more. They decide to tie-up with you and offer y a commission in exchange for recommending recommending their services to tourists who may need it.

So each time you send them a visitor, who ends up giving them business, you earn a small commission. There are plenty of people who walk daily into your center, which means there are plenty of opportunities to make money through your recommendations each day.

This is exactly what affiliate marketing is in the virtual hub. Your blog is the visitor information center, and the affiliate merchants are various businesses that have products or services that may be of interest to your blog visitors. Thus you enlist as their affiliate and promote their products or services on your blog in exchange for a commission/completed action or sale.

You offer plenty of valuable content to your readers (in the form of informative and insightful posts), engage them in a conversation, build authority (through well-researched posts) and ultimately inspire a loyal following, where readers trust you enough to make purchases through your unique recommendation affiliate links.

If you pick a topic related to your area of expertise or passion (and research it to be profitable enough), there are tons of related affiliate programs across multiple affiliate marketing marketplaces. For instance, if you are a keen traveler or possess an inherent interest in adventure travel, you can create a blog around your experiences or adventures. Populate your blog with amazing, wow-worthy content that fulfills the vicarious wanderlust of your readers. Next, start finding profitable products and service within the adventure travel domain. You may find eBooks on ClickBank (one of the largest affiliate marketing marketplaces) related to adventure travel or travel guide to a specific destination.

Then there are lots of travel affiliate programs offered by travel booking sites. You can also promote tons of Amazon products (backpacks, camping gear, adventure sports gear, etc.) on the site. Get the drift? Here’s a typical step by step affiliate marketing business model.

1. Pick a niche

Start by picking a topic that is both interesting to you and has a sizeable profit potential. If you possess some expertise in the domain, it is like icing on the cake. Consider if there are enough profitable products/services in the niche for you to promote. I will mention secrets of profitable niche selection in detail later.

2. Find related products

Once you have chosen a niche, find related products and services that can be profitably promoted through your niche blog/website. I will show you tips on how to pick winning products on ClickBank. Once you have products that are perfect for your blog/website, get a unique affiliate link (that can be traced back to you when it comes to keeping track of commissions).

3. Build a blog or website

It isn’t a huge task to build a niche blog/website to promote/market affiliate products or services chosen by you. WordPress allows you to create professional looking, eye-catching and user-friendly sites in a few clicks.

4. Populate blog/website with valuable content

Know the golden rule of making money online? Get value before aspiring to gain value from customers/readers. Create compelling content that is interesting, useful and informative for your target readers. Keep the content related to the products/services promoted by you, so readers will be interested in making purchases related to the topic/niche.

5. Promote your blog/website

When you are all set with the content, affiliate links, and blog design, you need to put your brand where your potential customers hang out. You can employ a variety of blog promotion channels such as paid advertising programs, building fanpages on social media, creating guest post for other blogs (and kinking back to your site), ect.

Contrary to popular notion that affiliate marketing is dead as an online revenue earning channel, it is still making smart marketers a lot of money. You only need to adapt to changing trends and reinvent the game a bit to stay on top of it. Affiliate marketing is here to stay, and I am going to reveal all the little-know tips and secret strategies to help transport your business into the big league.

The toughest block to overcome is to get the ball rolling. Once you get started, you learn new strategies, latest trends and what works (what does not too) along the way.

Eight Golden Priciples od Affiliate Marketing

So you have decided to jump on the affiliate marketing bandwagon and make money from what is probably one of the most profitable ways to make money online. However, here are height golden rules that you must know before launching a rewarding affiliate marketing business.

1. Be genuine, honest and ethical wth your readers. Nothing will kill your credibility than sharing misleading infomation or lying to your readers to make a sale. Also, you are legally bound to make a full disclosure of the fact that you will be earning a commission if they purchase products/services through your link. be upfront, and inform your readers that in return for offering expert recommendations, you will be making a small commission for every sale and that the amount they are charged for the getting a commission.

2. Always promote high quality and time tested products that you can confidently vouch for. Do not opt for sub-standard products to make quick sales. They will hamper your reputation like no other, anl people will stop taking your recommendations seriously.

3. Do not limit yourselves only to a particular kind of product, though you should not be promoting more than 2-3 good products at time, especially in the early stages of the business. You can be a promoter for everything from large corporations such as Amazon (select product that are relevant to your niche frome a vast inventory) to digital courses to Ebooks.

4. If you do not want to be seen as a spammer, keep all your affiliate related to your niche. If your blog is about budget travel, do not strt selling teeth whiteners or weight loss supplements on it. Once you are seen as a spammer, people will not takr even relevant product recommendations seriously.

5. This is something not many affiliate marketers are aware of. However, affiliate commission rates on the same program can vary from the one network to another. Some networks may pay as much as 20-30% more than other networks, which means you should look up the same products/services on different networks to check who is offering the highest commission.

6. There is no fixed formular for success in affiliate though there are lots of guidelines and strategies that work. What works for someone else may not work for you. You will have to keep changing the rules of the game and evolve buu trying out different ad sizes, content pieces, affiliate links, visuals, placement of links and more. You have to keep testing different aspects of promotion and marketing untill you arrive upon a trategy that works best for you.

7. Read the Terms of Service for every program you plan to market extremely carefull bebefore promoting it. For instance, some affiliate marketing programs prohibit the inclusion of affiliate link within emails sent to subscriblers. To avoid all future hassles, go through the individual terms and conditions of every program.

8. Build brands, not spammy content frams. I cannot emphasize the value of building content brands enough for making a profitable living from affiliate marketing. Look at any affiliate site that's faring exceptionally well across verticals such as travel, finance, property, health, ect.

The blog is almost always a powerful brand such as Houzz, Agoda. Compare ect. have made it big in the world of affiliate marketing owing to their powerful editorial and content trategy, along with the value they offer readers. Creating content farms stuffed with popular keywords may seem like a tempting prospect to make a quick buck in the beginning. However, be assured that it iwll not help you build a long term and sustainable business.

9. Hve a clear audience to promote to by identifying acompelling need. Bill Cosby once famously stated, "The key to failure is trying to please everbody." This is exactly what will happen if you do not have a clear and focused audience. You cannot sell everything to everyone. There has to be a ser of clearly defined audience wo are interested in your products or services.

Affiliate Marketing: How to Scale Up Fast - Scott, David.
You can have the best product in the world if no one knows that it exist, you will not make any sales. Traffic, and most importantly, the quality of traffic that you get to your offers will directly affect the amount of sales that you generate. There are thousands of way that you can get traffic to your offers, you can do it using free methods and paids methods.

Free traffic

As we discussed earlier you, you can harness the power of platform like Facebook and Youtube to create large followings and get free traffic to your offers.

Paid traffic

There are many ways to purchase traffic, but keep in mind that driving traffic to your offers alone will not be sufficient to make money online with affiliate marketing. In order to make paid traffic work, you will need to know the type of people to target with your offer. Knowing how to purchase and drive quality traffic to your offers is an essential skill in making money online.

If you don’t take the time to learn paid traffic, you can spend thousands of dollars purchasing it and never make a cent back.  I highly recommend you to learn as much as you can on how to purchase and drive traffic to your offers (we go more in depth with this in the complementary course at the end of this guide). Don’t be afraid to invest money in books, courses, seminars and anything else that you will help you master it, because once you to, you will be literally able to print money online. Below I’ll explain briefly how paid traffic works and where to get it from.

Traffic from social media platforms
You can purchase traffic from social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.

Purchasing traffic from social media platforms has become one of the best ways to get paid traffic online.
Paid social media traffic is great is because these platforms collect a lot of data from their users and allow us marketers to use this data when creating our ads. Facebook is the company that collects the most data. They know pretty much everything about their users. They know their hobbies, their favorite sport teams, what Facebook pages they like, even how much money they earn per year. They know if their users own pets, have kids, have college degrees and the types of jobs that they work. Yup, pretty much everything!

This is one of the reasons why some of the best affiliate marketers in the world use Facebook as one of their main traffic sources. They know that Facebook allows them to get extremely targeted as to who they want to see their offers.

Traffic from search engines
Search engine advertising is another great way to drive traffic to your offers. It is estimated that Google alone gets approximately 40,000 new searches per second, which amount to more than a trillion searches per year. Traffic is not scarce; there are millions of people searching for products and services on the internet every day, and these search engines want to send the best traffic to your offers in exchange for your money. If google alone gets more than one trillion searches a year, there is a pretty good chance that some of these searches are from people looking for the products that you promote.

In order to advertise on these search engines, you will need to sign up for ad accounts. To advertise on google, you will need an AdWords account. Signing up to advertise on these search engines is as easy as making a google search with the “search engine name” and the word “advertise” and signing up. Some of the major search engines that offer paid advertising are Google, Yahoo, YouTube and Bing.

Traffic from native ad networks
This is another great way to get good paid traffic online. There are thousands of ad networks where you can buy traffic from. Native ad networks work by placing your ads in hundreds of websites related to your niche. They get the name “Native” because they try to blend their ads with the website’s content.  Here is a list of the best native ad networks to buy ads from:

  • Taboola  outbrain
  • Rev content
  • Ad blade
  • AdSense (works with google AdWords)
  • Bing

These are just a few of the thousands of ways that you can get traffic online, but that should be more than enough to get you started with your first affiliate marketing campaign. But wait there is more! Actually just a small tip before you jump right into driving traffic from these platforms like the action taker that you are, I want to let you know that each of these traffic sources might require a slightly different marketing strategy depending on the types of offers that you promote. My personal advice is to focus on one and ignore all the others.

If you are just getting started and never invested a penny on traffic before, I recommend starting your advertising on Facebook. Learn as much as you can, join Facebook groups related to your niche and spy on ads from marketers already promoting your offers, check out their landing pages, funnels (sales copy) and implement some of their strategies into your own business. This will be the best way to get started fast and reduce your risk of losing money at the beginning.

Let's say that you promote a product on the weight loss niche. In order to get people into your list, you must first target them with a free offer ( also know as "lead magnet"). This could be something like a free report "on the top 10 foods that make your gain weight", or "the 10 foods you should avoid if you want to lose weight fast", pretty much anything that these people will be interested in. Your free offer should provide good infomation and add value to their lives, and the image used should portray something worth giving away an email addredd for.

Once you have your free offer ready, you will then send traffic to a landing page created with the sole purpose to encourage visitors to exchange  their best email address for the free report just like the one above. Your goal is to get as many people to subcrible to your list as you possible can, because one they do, you can contunue to reach out to them without having to purchase traffic.

Again, creating an email list should not only about the money, you should also be dedicated to truly help these people with their problems and become their go to person for question and advice. If you do this right, these people do nit think twice about investing the products and services that you recommend. This approach can not only make really good commissions, but some of your subcrible can invite their freinds and family members helping you to grow your list for free.

Today,  not having a website should no longer be an excure. Platform like Wordpress have make it extremely easy for anyone to create beautiful looking site in a matter of minutes, without having to spend hundreds of hours sitting in front of a computer learning HTML,  CSS and Javascript.

A website play a very important role in affiliate marketing, more so when you incorporate it into your marketing stratagy. Having your own website is assential because it help you build trust with potential customer. People will be more inclined to purchase a weight loss product recommend by a website with the url: www.weightlosspal.com than to purchase product recommended by website with the url: www.supermen83.wixsite.com/weightloss. I hope you get the point.

A website can be use in a few different ways, but this will ultimately depend on the strategy that you use. Here is a couple:

  1. A blog: this is website that contains useful infomation abiout specific niche. I only recommend this trategy those who are willing to spend time or money producing quality content. But it can be a great way to earn really good money in the long run.
The reason why it model is no longer appealing to most internet marketer is because in order to make it work, you will be required to create large and engaging pieces of content specifically geared towards your niche audience. Once you create the content, you will then need to invest your time or money in order to rank your post to the first pages of google or other search engines in order get your post to attrack organic traffic. To do this,  you will need to have a website with great search engine optimazation (SEO), which can be another beast on its owner.

       2. Landing or Squeeze page: This is mostly what i use in order to promote products with affiliate makerting.

A landing page can be created as an infomative artical (Advertorial) or as a way to collect visitor's infomation such as thier email address, names and telephone numbers. You can easily create beautiful landing page with softwares like clickfunnels,  leadpages or instapage. If you don't know how a landing page work or how it looks, simply think back at how you got to the point of reading this guide. I first targeted yoi with an advertisement on a social media platform, and when you clicked on it you were immediately sent to the landing page, where we exchanged your email address for this free guide.

In my opinion collecting email should be a must for any affiliate marketer. What many people will tell you to do is to send traffic directly to the offers or to an advertorial, and although it is possible to make some money doing it that way failing to create email list coukd result in losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in the long run.

I can't stree enough about the importance of growing an email list. Many people don't do this because growing an email list takes time, but trust me,  you will be glad that you did it.

A customer's email list, when used correctly, is used to interact, help and generate trust with people. It is not another way to spam them with unrelated offers everyday or sell them on crappy products. When you help people with useful infomation, you will gain their trust and they will begin to see you as an authority, buying anything you recommend without giving it much thought, which as a result will help you earn much more money in comissions.

The type of product that you decide to promote can have a direct impact on the amount of money that you make. With affiliate marketing, you must understand that some products are in more demand than offers. For lack of a better example, there is a higher demand for an Iphone than for one of those old Nokia phones, yeah those that could cause tiny earthquakes if they fell off your hand. So, knowing this, you should know that you will be more likely to make money by promoting Iphones than by promoting those old Nokia phones. Your job as an affiliate marketer is to find products in demand and put these in font of people that could be interested in them. These products can be either physical or digital.

Physical products

If you prefer to promote physical products over digital ones, you will be able to promote pretty much any product thay you desire. Nowadays, giant retailer like Amazon, Target, Walmart, Best buy, and many others have affiliate programs that give everyone the opportunity to sign up and help them generate sales in exchange for commissions.

How to promote physical products ?

It is very easy to sign up as an affiliate with companies in order to promote physical products. Simply visit their websites, scroll down to the anchor texts "Affiliates", "Publisher", "Work with us", or "Partner".

You should be able to find an affiliate program with all of the companies listed above, but you certainly don't have work with all of them at once, just select the one that sells a product that you will like promote, sign up, and begin promoting it.

When you complete your affiliate registration, you will be given a special link and this link will allow you to track exactly how many sales are generated from the people who click on it and purchase the product base on your recommendation.

Here are some of most profitable physical product categories to promote:

  • Electronics
  • Sport gear
  • Household items
  • Wearable accessories
  • Health supplements
  • Ect.
Keep in mind that some categories have a higher demand than others, so always make sure to do your research before selecting one.

Digital Products

Digital products are those such as Ebooks, audiobooks, online courses, or viral services. Promoting digital products can be easier than physical products because most of them are offered online through instant downloads. The process to promote digital products is very similar to that physical products. You will still need to sign up as an affiliate, but in this case you will sign up with affiliate networks rather than retailers.

How to promote digital products?

In order to promote digital products you will have to join an affiliate network. An affiliate network is third party company that host multiple digital products for affiliates to promote. they are basically the middle man between the product creator and you.

one reason why promoting products through affiliate networks is important is because they make sure that you get the right compensation for the sales that you generate. A lot of these networks will also help you create as many sales as possible, as they also generate a small commission from the sales that you make. Today, there are thousands of affiliate networks eager to work with anyone willing to promote their products. I have listed a few below.

How to sign up an affiliate network ?

As I said earlier, there are thousands of affiliate networks out there willing to bring in new affiliate every day. Here is a list of the most popular ones:
  • Clickbank
  • Jvzoo
  • Peerly
  • Maxbounty
  • Rakuten
The process for sign up with affiliate networks is very similar to signing up to promote physical products. When you visit their websites, all of them will have an option to create an affiliate account. Keep in mind that some of these networks will often use term Publisher rather than Affiliate, but know that they are reffering to the same thing. So, go to their websites and sign up to become a publisher or affiliate.

Don't be afraid to go and create accounts with a few of these networks, all of them will be happy to get you on their team.

Affiliate marketing is a marketing model designed so that individuals can help companies sell more of their products and services both online and offline. As an affiliate marketer (also known as publisher), you will work within a referral based system that allows you to earn a cut of the money that companies make from sales made to people that you refer.

How much money can you make with affiliate marketing?

The amount of money that you can earn with affiliate marketing will depend on the product that you choose to promote and how many sales you can generate. Often times this amount can even be 100% of the total price of the product, so if you refer someone to a $100 product and they make the purchase, your commission will be $100 (There is a reason why some companies do this, you will find out why once you become a more advanced marketer).

What products can you sell with affiliate marketing?

One of the reasons why affiliate marketing is so appealing to so many people is because you can promote pretty much anything under the moon. You can sell both high and low ticket products. Low ticket products range in price from $7 to $200, and high ticket from $297 -$25,000.

All and all, if I was to summarize affiliate marketing in five basic points, they would be:

  1. You partner with a company to help them promote a product or service.
  2. You market and recommend the products to other people by using your own marketing resources.
  3. People purchase the product based on your recommendation.
  4. You get paid a commission for those purchases.
  5. You flip your boss goodbye, move to a mansion in Dubai and buy a Bugatti. (Possible only if you are serious and willing to work hard ☺)

Benefits of affiliate marketing

There has never been a better time to start an affiliate marketing business than today, and the opportunity continues to grow every day as millions of people turn to the internet to purchase new products and services. In fact, the yearly revenue estimate generated from affiliate marketing is a whopping 6.4 billion, which is expected to grow by 40% by the year 2019 as about 80% of all business transactions will begin online. Experienced marketers know this, and they are doing everything they can to take advantage of this predicted growth.

Therefore, if you want to make money online, it is very important that you also prepare yourself to take your own cut of this 6.4 billion dollar pie. Do this by following the instructions provided to you in this free guide and course, and by making the decision to start today.

If you are still skeptical about affiliate marketing (which I don’t blame you there are a lot of people giving it a bad rep out there), below I’ll give you a few more reasons why this is the best online business to start today.

It is easy to get started

Affiliate marketing is one of the best and easiest ways for anyone to make money online. It is a 6.4 billion dollar a year industry with a very low barrier of entry. You don’t need any special degrees or high technical knowledge to make it work, the door is pretty much open to anyone willing to step inside.

You can start with no investment

Affiliate marketing does not require a big initial investment. If you are strapped on cash, there are plenty of free strategies that you can use in order to find people on the internet who are interested in buying whatever you promote.

You can make money selling products that fall within your passion

Another important reason why I love affiliate marketing is because you can earn good money, while promoting products or services within your passion.  Amazon.com alone has one of the biggest affiliate marketing programs, and if you have ever shopped on their site, you can attest that they pretty much sell everything under the moon. This is great for us affiliate marketers because we can make commissions promoting whatever items fall within our passion, without getting bored or not know what we are talking about.

You can work from anywhere in the world

Affiliate marketing allows you to work from anywhere in the world, all you need is a computer and an internet connection.

Who is affiliate marketing for?

Affiliate marketing is for people willing to create a new source of income using the internet. Whether you are looking to make an extra $100 a month, $500 per month, or even $1,000,000 a month, affiliate marketing can be a way to get there.

When done right, affiliate marketing is an excellent way to make really good money online. If you are an over achiever and dedicate yourself enough to master the affiliate marketing game, you can earn incredible amounts of money right from the comfort of your home or anywhere in the world as long as you have a computer and an internet connection at hand.

The wrong approach to affiliate marketing

Nowadays there seem to be a bunch of “gurus” teaching people to do affiliate marketing by means of deceiving people in order to get them to buy their products.

These “gurus” teach their students to overhype their promises in order to increase sales and earn more money in commissions, even when they have never personally used, done any type of research, or believe in the products that they promote.

Although this seems to be a way to make a quick buck online, I don’t really recommend anyone to take this approach. If you want to make good money with affiliate marketing you need to treat it as a business, not as get rich quick scheme.

The right approach to affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing is beautiful when done in a way that adds value to people. In other words, don’t get into affiliate marketing if you plan to spam people with offers from products that you know won’t help them. If you do it this way, other than not make many sales, you can end up pissing off a lot of people.

As an affiliate marketer your job is to identify a need in the market, find a solution that satisfies that need (an affiliate product or service), and put that solution in front of the people who need it. It’s simple!

I have had people thank me before for selling them an affiliate product and, in my opinion, that is the way that it should be.
